Class time 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
In this workshop we will dive into the process of creating a theatrical image. Each participant will feel like an artist and technologist in a baroque performance. A theatrical sketch is the first, extremely necessary stage of work on a future costume. At that moment, a character who previously existed only in the imagination of the filmmakers is born. And a baroque costume is also a cultural cipher, which we will learn to unravel to use the mastered baroque language for creating our own theatrical sketches.
We start by discussing how a costume for the stage is created in general, talking about the dialogue between colour and texture and how Baroque costumes were different. Next, move on to practice – make up a real colour palette and create the characters of an imaginary performance on paper.
No special skills or knowledge is required. Just the desire to immerse yourself in the world of theatre and fantasy!
As a reminder, this activity is only for children: they are in our care for two hours. Parents are welcome to relax and take a walk around the exhibition.
The class is conducted by a teacher, theatre artist, and technologist Anna Fedotova. Since 2015, she has worked at The Moscow State Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre MAMT as a technologist. A professional family coach, a specialist in working with teenagers, and an instructor of the “Miracle Island” teen psychological training. A teacher at the Waldorf Pinsky School.
About the children’s programme at the exhibition-festival Theatrocracy. Catherine II and Opera:
The exhibition Theatrocracy. Catherine II and Opera is a unique project, born at the intersection of theatre and museum collaboration. The Theatrocracy programme for children is also an area of cooperation between the museum and musical theatre.
The educational programme was developed by one of Moscow’s most famous theatres especially for the museum together with the exhibition’s supervisors. To create a unique set of children’s theatrical classes, Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve invited the New Opera Educational Cluster (OKNO), a leading expert and innovator in the field of educational programmes for children and adults.
The programme is supervised by Alisa Spirina, the creator and head of OKNO.
